The evolution of Video Game FAce-Masks
The Inter/facial recognition
There are many aspects to the gas mask image, and many of them can be seen and learned on this site. But, there is one particular gas mask medium that seems to be evolving faster than any other - Video Games. It is through the history of video games that a complex narrative can be derived. Through that derivation, the futuristic possible paths of gas masks can be predicted.
This Prezi demonstration discusses the potential video game creators have on gas masks. But first, to have an understanding into what we are trying to accomplish on this project, I need to discuss Nathaniel River's interest in "things". Trying to understand an inanimate object is very similar to understanding the story behind the object. The person doing the identifying needs to have a starting point. Nathaniel opens up dialogues with 7 questions: compostion, production, distribution, assemblage. circulation, transformation, and consequentialty. Through these 7 questions, any object can be identified. For this example, let's interpret a gas mask. By studying the gas mask in terms of the following 7 principles, an identity is formed. Through this interpretation a narrative can be told. Once that narrative has been told, a picture forms. That picture tells a story of the person behind the gas mask. A question that I have been trying to answer is whether video game helmets have an impact on the real world? The answer can be found by watching the small presentation to the left. |
